O'Quinn Leads Norfolk State To 2012 MEAC Tournament Title

Norfolk State defeated Bethune-Cookman by a final score of 73-70 to win the 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament.

Top-seeded Savannah State was upset in the quarterfinals by Hampton, who was in turn defeated by Bethune-Cookman. Second-seeded Norfolk State defeated Howard and Florida A&M in the quarters and semifinals.

Kyle O'Quinn was named Tournament MVP and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by teammate Rob Johnson, Florida A&M's Amin Stevens, Christopher Tolson of Hampton, and Adrien Coleman of Bethune-Cookman.

Kyle O'Quinn of Norfolk State has been named the 2012 MEAC Player of the Year.

Joining O'Quinn on the All-MEAC First Team is Tony Gallo of Coppin State, Darrion Pellum of Hampton, Dominique Sutton of North Carolina Central and Jay Threatt of Delaware State.

On the All-MEAC Second Team are Marques Oliver and Tahj Tate of Delaware State, Rashad Hassan and Deric Rudolph of Savannah State, Chris McEachin of Norfolk State and Ray Willis of North Carolina Central.

O'Quinn was also named the Defensive Player of the Year, while Tate won Rookie of the Year honors.

On the All-Rookie Team with Tate are Tyshawn Bell of Delaware State, Taariq Cephas of Coppin State, Prince Okoroh of Howard and Ishaq Pitt of Maryland-Eastern Shore.
